Mike Minor
Hailed as "clear and articulate with a marvelous sound and range", Tubist Michael Minor has been delighting audiences all over the mid-Atlantic region with his "solid and expressive" musicianship. Eager to elevate the role of the Tuba from a background instrument to a forground experience, Michael has developed a reputation for presenting the tuba as an instrument capable of carrying its own (considerable) weight within chamber group settings, orchestral engagements, as well as solo performances.
Michael has performed with such groups as the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, Peabody Concert Orchestra, Arlington Concert Band and the New River Valley Symphony. He was also a member of the Virginia Tech Faculty Brass quintet as well as Monument Brass, and Quantum Brass Quintet, Virginia Tech's premier student brass ensemble.
Michael recently graduated from Virginia Tech with a BA in Music, concentrating in Performance and Technology and is currently pursuing a MM in Tuba Performance at the Peabody Conservatory, studying with David Fedderly (Principal Tuba, Baltimore Symphony (ret.)). In addition to his large ensemble engagements, Michael performs regularly with Vice City Brass and Marquee Brass.
